Mike is a six-string bassist with the instrumental rock group “LoNero” based in San Jose, California. Mike is from a very musical family. A long line of brass musicians and vocalists on his Father’s side, as well as several vocalists, keyboardists, and guitarists on his Mother’s side. At the age of six Mike began study on the trombone, which he continues to this day. At age fifteen, he decided to take up the bass. Self taught on bass through high school, he continued musical studies at Chabot College in Hayward, California under great Bay Area jazz educator Frank Sumares and renowned local bassist Cindy Browne. Many of Frank’s students have gone on to be very successful. One glowing example would be the much revered, John Pattitucci.
Mike has shared the stage with many great performers including Leslie Uggams, Mick Gillette, Gordon Goodwin, Herman’s Hermits and Greg Abate. Mike has also performed for audiences in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Hawaii, and the United Kingdom.
Mike’s discography includes three CD recordings with the Salvation Army brass band in Concord, California, one with the rock trio Solcraft, and most recently, LoNero’s upcoming release “Relentless” which will include a multi track bass ensemble piece titled “Morning”.
Mike has truly found his home in LoNero, a group that writes innovative yet catchy material and gives an exciting live performance.
Mike currently endorses Queen Strings and Dickens Energy Drinks, uses Peavey Amplification, and is a member Washburn’s “Emerging Artists”.
