Gregory Bruce Campbell is a 9-string bassist currently involved with the following groups:
9 & Zen, the Blair Jazz Project, C3, Depth, Derby, the "ED" band, Freak Wincing, Kickstart Chubby, and the VCF worship team. He also performs regularly as a SOLO BASSIST.
Gregory currently maintains artist endorsement relationships with the following companies:
AccuGroove speaker systems, BEE basses, EBS pedals, Ergo orchestral Instruments, Morley pedals, Pigtronix, Pedal Pad pedal boards, and SIT strings.
Gregory proves to be a prominent force in the extended range musical instrument community. Greg's strengths focus on performance and design concerning extended range basses, as well as all the peripheral necessities required for playing and performing on such instruments. He maintains relationships with many companies that provide services to such musicians, even outside the purview of his endorsements.
Many would agree that when it comes to his own original material, Greg has a tendency to take the athletic musical ability, and incorporate it into grooves that move your body whether you want it moving or not! A rare gift among bassists, as usually if one is considered "flashy", then chances are they lack in groove ability, and vise versa.
Greg is also known for his ability to play supportive, and groove, all while stretching the limitations of a traditional bass' role in music.
Among his achievements, is the creation of a tremendously successful online forum group for like-minded individuals
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/extendedrangeBASSIST). It is a free service and some of the subscribers include high profile performers, and cutting edge instrument manufacturers. The group members exchange information and experience in a positive, supportive environment.
This forum has expanded so large that a web site was necessary to meet the needs of its members.

In 1994 Greg was one of ten finalists worldwide in Bass Player magazine's Billy Sheehan Scholarship Contest. That same year he became a key volunteer staff member of the Bozeman Bass Bash. Greg is the ONLY individual who has attended and or participated in every years annual Bozeman Bass Bash!
Greg has performed on stage with and / or to introduce such musical virtuosos as: Victor Bailey, Jeff Berlin, Brian Bromberg, Oteil Burbridge,
Anthony Cox, Billy Dickens, David Ellefson, Stu Hamm, Carol Kaye, Geno Kreis, Rob Kohler, Michael Manring, Stewart McKinsey, Adam Nitti, Dave Pomeroy, Benny Reitveldt, Kelly Roberty, Rich Ross, Billy Sheehan, Randy Tico, Michael Shawn Tyrell, Gerald Veasley, and Neil Zaza.
Greg recently had the honor to open for the Phsycadelic Furs, and Blondie for a small tour with the band "Derby". The tour was put on by the Atlanta based booking agent Mad Booking.
As a solo bassist, Greg is heavily involved in the art of looping. What is looping you ask?
"Looping" as an art form and as an approach to both recorded and live music is more than simply an intriguing novelty. With various pieces of technology, the performer is simultaneously composing, providing all the instrumentation, and improvising over the top of his or her creation The beauty of the medium is the breadth of it: it can be simple, raw and visceral, deeply meditative, or seriously intellectual. More than this, each performance is wholly unique as the audience is taken for a journey along with the artist who is constantly exploring new grooves, textures, and places within him or herself.
Gregory Bruce Campbell sets himself further apart from the already unorthodox group of loopers through the choice of his instrument: a 9-string bass! This allows him a tonal range greater than a grand piano, the expressive possibilities of a guitar, the inherently percussive feel of slap and pop style, and the emotional weight unique to the timbre of a bass.
Greg is also a co-moderator along side one of his best friends, and Extended Range peers, "Stewart McKinsey" for an Extended Range Bass forum at the very popular web site,
www.bassically.net.
Not surprisingly, Greg comes from a musical family. His father is a drummer. When Greg was still in the womb, he would kick in time to the music when his mother would go to watch her husband's band perform. Following those paternal footsteps. Greg put together his first band with drummer Jeremy Slead at the age of thirteen.
Greg loves and learns from all genres of music. His motto is, 'You can't get any better if you're not willing to look at the WHOLE picture!'
Greg and his good friend Fred Bolton from BEE basses are currently designing and taking orders for Greg's new BEE brand 3 to 11 string signature basses! If you are a bassist, you must reward your self by visiting the BEE basses web site @

There is a promotional CD available from Morley pedals. It is distributed to customers free of charge at each of Morley's top retailers, and events. Over 10,000 copies have been pressed and distributed to date.
Gregory's latest up and coming projects are to write, record, and tour with his friend Michael Shawn Tyrrell, (Guitarist of the Jason Upton Band / Key of David Ministries)
also to record ethereal bass looping mood scapes to set a back drop for 3 albums for Wesley Campbell's praying the bible series. The proceeds from these albums with Wesley will go towards the Heidi Baker ministry.
